Dubašljan gastronomy

DUBoak invites all food enthusiasts to a unique culinary event on September 16, 2023. Chef Marin Pleše (Vila Rova) will be preparing tradition-inspired dishes in honor of the sinful Fra Karlo from Dubašnica and his gastronomy, which has reached us through the expert writing and imagination of Dr. Branko Fučić. 

The Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center DUBoak aspires to become a recognizable place of valorization, interpretation and communication of the maritime, natural and intangible heritage of the Municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica, and a pledge for a sustainable environmental, social and economic future. With this purpose, DUBoak proudly announces a one-day gastronomic event inspired by Branko Fučić’s pseudo-text from 1996 entitled “Gastronomy of Sinful Fra Karlo from Dubašnica”. In cooperation with the famous chef from Malinska, Marin Pleše, we have prepared a special culinary experience.

Chef Marin Pleše will lead the culinary program using recipes from Branko Fučić’s book. At several stations with inscriptions inspired by dishes from the book (Bakalaj na glagoljaški način, Panada za bratju i težaki, Pastirski kunpir i fažol, Jen lipi rižot, Mostirska maneštra), the dishes will be finished on the spot with additions from higher gastronomy such as flavored oils and spices.

The musical program will further enrich the experience of the event, including the performance of traditional musicians and singers. In orderd to supports local agriculture and producers, small stands with local products such as cheese, prosciutto, brandy, liqueurs, wine and many others will be set up in front of the DUBoak Interpretation Center.

PRICE: 15 EUR per person


The price includes a tasting of 4 dishes by Chef Marin Pleša, a glass of wine or beer, a booklet with dish descriptions, and a wooden glass.
